He was true to his word. Regular phone calls kept us informed. Photos of progress were e-mailed on a frequent basis. Any challenges related to original construction were resolved by Matthew’s creative solutions and skills and always with a phone consult. If he had an idea that could improve quality, cost-efficiency, or flow of design he readily offered it as a possibility. When we made a couple of changes to the project in the midst of the work he was flexible, courteous and easy to work with. He worked closely with us on all aspects of the construction. He was very respectful of the security of the house and the cleanliness of the property throughout the time of the work. He was thorough with documentation of materials and costs which helped make for a positive experience.

The project was finished in late autumn of 2007. The result was outstanding. We have enjoyed the additional living space immensely. A bedroom, large bath with spa tub, a large open living area with a dining area including countertop and cabinetry, an exercise room, utility room, billiards room and the covered porches make for a wonderful addition. The excellent quality of the craftsmanship is evident and enhances the beauty and sense of comfort and warmth of the home.

Since the completion of the project Matthew and Irene have done additional work on our home including Irene’s faux paint artistry. They are gifted people. Even more they are very pleasant, personable and caring people both about their work and their clients.

Without hesitation we gladly and highly recommend them for your construction and renovation needs.

Together, Deb and I have owned four homes during our 27 years of marriage. We have done much of the necessary maintenance and renovation ourselves;however, we have also employed many contractors along the way for various repairs and upgrades to those dwellings. Matt gave us a competitive, very fair price and immediately presented us with plans and ideas. His work was not only competent, but ethical and professional. Others he brought in for portions of the work were equally as competent and ethical. We discovered a serious mold issue in the finished portion of the basement and Matt drove forward in solving the issue in an amazingly timely manner. This included demolition of the bottom four feet of dry wall, the entire bathroom, and base kitchen cabinets, and rebuilding everything.

Matt is one of those rare people who is totally honest and thinks on his feet, giving and accepting suggestions, and does an amazing job at creative thinking.

I would HIGHLY recommend Witt Building for any project a person might have.

The stone masons were amazing. They brought in a truckload of what looked like rubble to me, and chipped each stone to fit exactly, including nice sharp corners while following the slope of the chimney all the way to the 18’ ceiling. It only took three days, including the stone hearth and mantle, and the custom niche for my stained glass. It was all done without a single scratch on my wood floors, too!
The bookcase came out exactly as I envisioned it. The finish work was excellent, and all the miters are completely seamless. The same goes for the fireplace in the bedroom. Matthew’s crew took my picture and a load of wood and created exactly what I drew.

We are very happy with the master bath shower as well. Because Matthew suggested we swap the plumbing to the other side, we were able to make the shower much bigger, giving it a much more luxurious feel. The tile work is beautiful. We had final approval of all wood, stains, paint colors and tile, so we had complete control over the look of the finished product.
Witt Building Company was reliable, came in right on budget, and finished ahead of schedule. We would definitely hire them again, and recommend them highly.
