Matthew Witt did a remodeling project for us in 2012. We chose him because he came to the house and did thorough measurements followed by a detailed, itemized quote. We expected the actual construction to be a difficult time, as the crew was working in multiple rooms in the house while we were currently living there, but it was not. The disruption was minimal. Each night before leaving, the crew was meticulous about cleaning up after themselves, including vacuuming up any sheet rock dust. From previous construction projects, I mentally added 50% to the time estimate Matthew quoted of four weeks, but not only did Matthew hit the schedule, he came in nearly a week early.
The stone masons were amazing. They brought in a truckload of what looked like rubble to me, and chipped each stone to fit exactly, including nice sharp corners while following the slope of the chimney all the way to the 18’ ceiling. It only took three days, including the stone hearth and mantle, and the custom niche for my stained glass. It was all done without a single scratch on my wood floors, too!
The bookcase came out exactly as I envisioned it. The finish work was excellent, and all the miters are completely seamless. The same goes for the fireplace in the bedroom. Matthew’s crew took my picture and a load of wood and created exactly what I drew.
We are very happy with the master bath shower as well. Because Matthew suggested we swap the plumbing to the other side, we were able to make the shower much bigger, giving it a much more luxurious feel. The tile work is beautiful. We had final approval of all wood, stains, paint colors and tile, so we had complete control over the look of the finished product.
Witt Building Company was reliable, came in right on budget, and finished ahead of schedule. We would definitely hire them again, and recommend them highly.
